The Gulf Islands is an assorted group of islands ranging in size, landscape, flora and fauna. Most islands are surrounded by BC Marine Parks, covered in old growth forests and are located throughout the inside passage between Vancouver Island and the mainland on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. The entire inside passage has over 6,000 islands - some remote and rugged while others are inhabited. The Gulf Islands, especially the southern islands, enjoy mild mediterranean-like temperatures creating an environment that suits many different outdoor recreational activities year round.

The islands off the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada is also a preferred destination and home for many internationally recognized artists, actors, environmentalist and musicians. The Gulf Islands has many styles and types of accommodations including cottages, B&Bs, retreats and hotels. Most islands have basic amenities like a grocery store and a gas station.

The main Gulf Islands with a significant population serviced by BC Ferries are Salt Spring, Pender, Galiano, Mayne, Saturna, Thetis and Gabriola Islands in the south. Then there is the Discovery Islands - central - Denman and Hornby Islands. And then the northern Discovery Islands which include  Quadra and Cortes, Malcolm and Cormorant Islands. And then there are the 1000's of uninhabited wilderness Islands full of wildlife and adventure.

Every year visitors from around the globe come to Canada to relax or to embark on a British Columbia adventure like sea kayak touring, biking, sailing, marine charter fishing, whale watching scuba diving, bird watching, hiking, boating, camping and much more.
