How to Get to Saltspring Island

There are ferry terminals on Vancouver Island and on the mainland in the city of Vancouver connecting to Saltspring Island. Ferry service in Vancouver is from the Tsawwassen Terminal. On Vancouver Island there are ferries running from Sidney (Swartz Bay) and Crofton (Vesuvius Terminal) in the Cowichan Valley.

Ferry service from Vancouver to Long Harbour on Saltspring Island is anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours depending on if the ferry is a direct sailing or if the ferry is making stops at Galiano, Mayne and Pender Islands.

South Vancouver Island BC Ferries operate from the Swartz Bay Terminal located north of Sidney BC. The Swartz Bay Terminal is the southern Vancouver Island access point to Saltspring Island. The ferry route takes about 35 minutes and arrives in the Fulford Harbour BC Ferry Terminal on Saltspring.

Further north in Crofton is the northern access point to Saltspring via a BC Ferry. the Crofton ferry is a 25 minute route connecting to Vesuvius on Saltspring.

Air

Air travel to Saltspring Island is via floatplanes. There are two full service marinas on Saltspring Island - Ganges and Fulford Harbour.
